When We Need You
From 16/04/2012 to 21/12/2012
About Opportunity
Experience the fun, satisfaction and energy of helping young people to explore humanitarian values and undertake positive global citizen action through our "School Speaker" programme. Min age 15. On an increasing frequency, news reports are informing us of natural disasters and human-made crises affecting communities across the globe. School Speaker volunteers are invited into primary and secondary schools to deliver interactive workshops on a variety of topics such as refugees and asylum seekers, HIV awareness, and the work of the Red Cross. You will need to be confident working with children and young people, ensuring that appropriate facts and ideas are explored and discussion is encouraged. You can also get involved in the development of resources and to influence the educational programme as it evolves. HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? Please use the contact details or REGISTER your INTEREST and we'll get back to you within 5 working days by email with more information and to arrange an informal interview. Next training dates are Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th April 2012. If you attend both days successfully 9.30-4.30 you'll be able to get started as soon as you can sign up to shadow existing 'school speakers' at workshops we're already committed to delivering. Register an interest BEFORE the Thursday 12th April closing date!
