About Opportunity

Peer Support Volunteers are vital to The Little Haven and are integral to the services we offer. Providing a listening ear for clients, assisting with classes and activities, making tea/coffee and ensuring lounge is tidy and welcoming. Many peer support volunteers are themselves living with a long term condition or have a family member who has been affected. They bring a wealth of life experience and skills to The Little Haven and their contribution is valued both by clients and staff. Volunteers are not expected to give advice or information regarding medical conditions.

About The Little Haven

We provide support to people affected by life limiting illness. We strive to give the highest standard of support and work closely with other organisations to achieve this. The centre operates on a 'drop-in' basis and referral is not necessary. All our services are free and totally confidential. We will try to make our visitors feel welcome - there is a comfortable lounge where people can relax, talk to our volunteers and other visitors, or simply enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Our aim is to connect with people, provide motivation, inspiration, hope and counsel.

Skills & Experience

Volunteers should have the desire to help and support others, be caring, have the ability to listen, good communication skills, a positive attitude and a clear understanding of confidentiality.
