About Opportunity
WOMEN ONLY TO APPLY FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY - Bridges works with women who have come to Glasgow from all over the world to seek asylum. Through our Women’s Empowerment Course and Equipped for the Future employability training we support these women to plan for their future. Mentors play a key role within our organisation enabling women to explore their needs, motivations, desires, skills and thought processes so that they can make real and lasting change in their life. Our mentors meet face-to-face with mentees twice a month to encourage them to commit to action and support them to set realistic personal goals. Some of the women we work with have a clear career focus but lack experience of working in the UK and would benefit from support in identifying the steps to go forward, meanwhile others are isolated due to lack of childcare, money, confidence or poor English and need ongoing guidance and encouragement to seek out opportunities and become involved in their wider community. Training Dates Friday 24th August 2012 from 6 pm – 8 pm Saturday 25th August 2012 from 9 am – 4 pm Sunday 26th August 2012 from 9am - 4pm HOW DO YOU GET INVOLVED? You should contact Regine Bews or Lynnda Wardle ideally by telephone, write or by email using the contact details on the right/select the APPLY! button. If you do not receive a response after 10 working days, please contact the Volunteer Centre Glasgow. Arrangements will be made for an application to be sent out by email if appropriate It generally takes around 4-6 weeks after you contact us until you start volunteering.
