About Opportunity
Volunteer speakers are of huge importance to the Leprosy Mission Scotland, speaking at a wide variety of groups such as schools, youth groups, Rotary, churches or retirement groups. Helping to raise awareness of the reality of leprosy is a very important task, and you would be central to increasing our supporter base and raising funds. Leprosy is curable and our target is to bring about a world without leprosy through effective diagnosis, treatment and support for people and communities affected by leprosy. Meetings will often include a stall with fairly traded goods made by leprosy affected people who have gone through rehabilitation and training programmes and are now able to support themselves and their families. The Leprosy Mission is a Christian charity and while meetings may be in a Christian or a secular environment, volunteers must be sympathetic to the Leprosy Mission's values and ethos.

To minister in the name of Jesus Christ to the Physical, mental, social and spiritual needs of individuals and communities disadvantaged by Leprosy. Working to uphold human dignity and eradicate Leprosy. Thereby raising resources, finance, people and prayer.

Enjoys public speaking, friendly and approachable, good communication and interpersonal skills, flexible and responsive to an audience, responsible and trustworthy, good numeracy skills Own transport required, also ability to carry equipment.
Travel Details
Throughout Scotland - you can choose which area you would be available to take meetings in. Own transport required, travel expenses provided.
Restrictions
No maximum age. No gender restrictions. Suitable for those aged 18 - 25. Not suitable for those with higher support needs, or those available for the summer months only.

Expenses Detail
Volunteers complete an expenses form after the event for the payment of agreed expenses (usually mileage allowance - sum currently under review). A cheque will be produced and sent to the volunteer.

Frequency & Commitment
