About Opportunity

It would be hoped that the volunteers would welcome visitors to the service and put them at their ease. They would assist visitors with their information needs or if the person just wishes to talk then they would provide a listening ear in a realaxed environment. Help with general administrative duties and keeping information displays tidy and well stocked.

About MacMillan Cancer Support

We aim to provide support and information to anyone who has had cancer, their relatives, friends and carers. Ther serviceisi free, confidential and provides access to specialist support, benefits advice, guided internet access/information leaflets and a relaxing plcae to meet others affected by cancer.

Skills & Experience

Warm, friendly and welcoming. To be a good listener and be able to put people at ease. Some experience of computers an advantage, but not essential.

Travel Details

Fort William Library (Health and Wellbeing zone). Airds Crossing, Fort William

Restrictions

Potentially will be dealing with people who are very anxious/upset regarding their health ro health of loved ones.

Application Form, Induction/Training, Interview, Police Check, References

Training and Induction Details

Training will be given in cancer awareness, communication issues, confidentiality and cancer information sources.
