About Opportunity
GREC are accepting applications from people to join a team of volunteers who will work in partnership with the Police Secondee to provide presentations to Primary and Secondary school children regarding the subject of Diversity and Racism. GREC are looking for persons who would be willing to take part in the presentations and share their own positive and negative, experiences. The opportunity would be ideally suited to someone who has experienced discrimination due to their race, religion or where they come from. This would be an opportunity to make a difference to the ideas and behaviour of young people in the community.

About Grampian Racial Equality Council
GREC are a charity who work with others to ensure that everyone is valued for who they are and is able to contribute with encouragement and without fear of discrimination or unfair treatment. Our objectives are to work towards the elimination of racial discrimination, to promote equality of opportunity for all and to promote good relations, between persons of different racial groups. Part of the work that GREC carries out, is to provide presentations in Primary and Secondary Schools, throughout Grampian, on the issues surrounding Diversity and Racism.
Skills & Experience
Confidence in public speaking, experience of working with young people, ability to be flexible regarding volunteer hours, personal experiences of Discrimination or Racism which you are happy to share with the pupils.
Travel Details
Presentations take place in Primary and Secondary schools throughout Grampian, transport will be provided to and from the GREC office at 168 Market Street, Aberdeen, a few minutes walk from the train and bus station
Restrictions
The volunteer would be assisting with school presentations during normal school hours and therefore it is not appropriate for a school aged pupil.

Training and Induction Details
The format of the presentations and lessons will be fully explained and demonstrated. Background reading on Racial issues and Discrimination can be provided. Volunteer will always be with the GREC Police Secondee who can offer continued support.
