About Opportunity

To provide support to patients during their stay in hospital and help improve their overall experience. Ward volunteers compliment the work of paid staff through offering assistance at mealtimes (as directed by staff) and helping to create a relaxed and friendly environment for patients through general befriending or activities.

To involve the local community at all ages with the hospital and therby improving the patient experience throughout.

Skills & Experience

Ability to work as a team-player, ability to communicate well with patients and willingness to undertake any necessary training as outlined by staff. Any previous experience of working in healthcare would be advantageous.

Travel Details

Currently opportunities are available in Ayr Hospital, Biggart, Crosshouse and Ayrshire Central.

Training and Induction Details

Induction covering all usual aspects i.e Health and Safety, Hand Hygiene, Moving and Handling, Violence & Aggresssion etc. Also training from Dietician, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist. Food hygiene training and ward induction also
