About Opportunity
The Welcome Package for Migrant Workers is a free online resource for adults coming to live in Scotland. The aim of the resource is not only to inform users about life in Scotland, but also to get them used to listening to native speakers and Scottish accents. A mentor should be able to give an hour or two a week to meet up with a designated mentee online to ‘chat’ about the sections of the resource that they’ve used. As a mentor you need to be a great listener and be there to link mentees to the services they might need here. Before becoming a mentor you will need to complete a mentoring agreement and attend one of the Welcome Package training events at: Saheliya, 125-127 McDonald Road, Edinburgh, 26th April, 2010 Inverness Express by Holiday Inn, 6th May, 2010

We provide certificated and non-certificated IT and vocational education and training, including core skills, literacy and numeracy in a friendly, informal and flexible environment. Our participants, with improved skills and confidence, are able to move onto further education or employment.

Mentors need to be good listeners who are happy to regularly communicate with their mentee via emails, messenger, Skype or a mixture of all three. Experience of having moved to Scotland would be useful, but not essential.
