About Opportunity
Despite advances in the fight against heart disease, many as a result of the work of BHF Scotland, there is still much more to be done. Everyday our volunteers are helping to raise vital funds and awareness within local communities across Scotland. BHF Scotland volunteers are involved in many ways including fundraising within schools, organising events, collecting, and helping us raise awareness by speaking to groups and supporters. Quite simply without volunteers like you we will not be able to continue our pioneering work – saving and improving lives. This vital role is about raising the profile of the charity and awareness of heart disease within schools, colleges and/or nurseries by giving short presentations about our work and the importance of healthy lifestyles. You will build up strong relationships with teachers and PE co-ordinators at schools within your agreed area through your contact with schools. You will be helping to encourage schools to participate in national fundraising events such as Jump Rope for Heart (skipping event) and Ultimate Dodgeball, which raise vital funds whilst improving children’s heart health. Where schools have supported the charity, you attend cheque presentations and thank your supporters for their help.

About BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION SCOTLAND
You can help British Heart Foundation (BHF) Scotland, the nation’s heart charity, to beat heart disease. Heart and circulatory disease is Scotland’s biggest killer, together we can save the lives we love.Within a generation, we will create a world where people do not die prematurely of heart disease. We will achieve this through our pioneering research, our vital prevention activity and by ensuring quality care and support for people living with heart disease. We need to share our vision because, together, we really can beat heart disease.

You will be a friendly outgoing individual with a natural empathy for children and young people. No prior knowledge of heart disease is required as full training will be given, but you will have an interest in health and some knowledge of the school system.
